Itinerary

Day by Day

Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road and the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, then Queenstown, Milford Sound, Christchurch, Rotorua and Auckland.

Day01
The outbound flight from Cochin to Melbourne

The group assembles at Cochin International Airport by late evening and meets the Fortune tour manager. After check-in and emigration, the flight departs for Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur.

Day02

Welcome to Australia. On arrival at Melbourne International Airport, transfer to the hotel and settle in.

Overnight in Melbourne. Meals: breakfast and lunch in flight, dinner at a restaurant.

Day03

A full city day: Town Hall, Old Parliament House, St Patrick's Cathedral, the Royal Exhibition Building, Federation Square, the Arts Centre and the Shrine of Remembrance from outside, plus Fitzroy Gardens and Captain Cook's cottage. Then the Melbourne Cricket Ground, one of the largest stadiums on earth with seating for over 100,000. After lunch, drive to Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade, where hundreds of little penguins return from the sea at sunset, with the island's Koala Conservation Centre nearby.

Overnight in Melbourne. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day04

A drive-through tour of the National Heritage-listed coastal road. Great Otway National Park's rainforest and waterfalls in the morning, then Port Campbell National Park and the Gibson Steps, where the stairway descends the cliff face beside the Twelve Apostles' limestone stacks.

Overnight in Melbourne. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day05

Fly north to tropical Queensland. On arrival in Cairns, the Kuranda rainforest tour runs by Skyrail Rainforest Cableway above the treetops one way and the Kuranda Scenic Railway past waterfalls and ravines the other.

Overnight in Cairns. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day06

A full-day cruise onto the world's largest coral reef system, stretching over 1,430 miles of the Coral Sea, with a semi-submarine bringing the coral gardens and marine life past the windows.

Overnight in Cairns. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day07

Fly to Sydney and go straight to its icons: the Sydney Opera House on Bennelong Point, opened in 1973 and a masterpiece of modern architecture, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge beside it.

Overnight in Sydney. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day08

A full day west to Blue Mountains National Park, about 80 kilometres from Sydney: Katoomba Falls in the Jamison Valley, Mt Solitary, and the Three Sisters, the sandstone trio standing over the valley.

Overnight in Sydney. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day09

Fly across the Tasman. Welcome to New Zealand. On arrival in Queenstown, ride the Skyline Gondola from Brecon Street up Bob's Peak, around 450 metres above the town, for sweeping lake and mountain views.

Overnight in Queenstown. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day10

A full-day journey into Fiordland National Park for the Milford Sound cruise, drifting beneath waterfalls and sheer fjord walls in one of New Zealand's most celebrated landscapes.

Overnight in Queenstown. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day11

Drive north through the South Island, passing Mt Cook, New Zealand's highest peak at 3,724 metres, and the blue waters of Lake Tekapo framed by the Southern Alps. Arrive in Christchurch for a city tour of this reborn city.

Overnight in Christchurch. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day12

Fly to the North Island. From Auckland, visit the Waitomo Caves, where glowworms light the limestone chambers in soft blue-green constellations, then continue to Rotorua.

Overnight in Rotorua. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day13

Morning at Te Puia, where Maori culture and geothermal geysers share one remarkable site, followed by the Agrodome Farm Tour's hands-on look at New Zealand farm life. Continue to Auckland.
