Documents

Documents, the Essentials

An international, high-altitude pilgrimage — a passport, Chinese visa and Tibet permit are all needed, with the visa and permit arranged in the package. Here is what to have ready.

  • 01

    Passport, Visa & Permit

A passport valid for at least six months is required, along with the Chinese visa and Tibet travel permit, both arranged as part of the package.

  • 02

    Eligible Age

For Indian citizens, the eligible age for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is 18 to 70 years.

  • 03

    Insurance Strongly Advised

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly advised, covering medical care, natural calamity, helicopter evacuation, personal accident and cancellation; Fortune does not sell insurance directly but can guide you to India-based providers.

  • 04

    Doctor's Fitness Check

A doctor's fitness check is essential before booking, given the demands of high-altitude travel; asthma and heart conditions commonly complicate acclimatization.

  • 05

    Practical Clothing

Sari is not appropriate wear for this yatra; practical trekking clothing is expected.

  • 06

    Changes 30 Days Ahead

Changes to the tour must be requested at least 30 days before departure, with any extra cost borne by the traveller.

Terms & Booking

Send your headcount and questions to info@fortunetours.com
The company may cancel the trip for reasons such as border closure, permit refusal, government action, war, civil disturbance or natural disaster.
Where such a cancellation happens, a comparable alternative is offered where possible, or a refund is made after deducting costs committed for flights, visas, permits, hotels and vehicles, with a clear expense statement for insurance claims.
Chinese authorities retain final discretion on entry even where a permit has been issued; travellers should not commence the journey until permit confirmation is received.
Changes requested within 30 days of departure may carry extra cost, borne by the traveller.
This is one of the toughest high-altitude road journeys on earth, and the Parikrama trek climbs to significant altitude; a doctor's evaluation is essential before booking.
Altitude sickness symptoms — headache, breathlessness, fatigue and loss of appetite — are common and expected during adjustment; the itinerary builds in acclimatization time for this reason.
A Gamow bag is carried on the tour as additional protection against altitude sickness.
The unit of currency in Tibet is the Yuan; money can be exchanged at the Bank of China in Kyirung county, and travellers should exchange remaining Yuan before leaving.
Vehicles operate on a point-to-point basis as per the itinerary and are not available at disposal.
Tours in Tibet run strictly under Tibet Tourism Bureau regulations, and the company is not responsible for changes from landslide, road blockage, flood, snow, political unrest or flight delay; any extra cost from such events is borne by the traveller.
The tour is ex-Cochin, and travellers boarding elsewhere bear the fare difference and related costs.
Disputes fall under Ernakulam jurisdiction.
Booking — 50 percent of the total tour cost at the time of booking, with full payment before 15 days of the journey.
Reservations run by email, fax or phone stating the services required, and we confirm the arrangements.
Paying the first instalment accepts the booking terms for all co-travellers.
The current tour cost is quoted separately from airfare, and any steep rise in currency rates or urgent visa processing may add to the cost.
